The amazing "Cha-hua-hua Lily" is finally finished!

I was finally able to finish Lily yesterday *feeew*. It was very irritating and frustrating to be so close to finishing a painting and not be able to find that little bit of quiet to get her done...but yesterday I did!
Now, there is a blank piece of canvas sitting on my easel staring at me, "nagging" me into starting my next inspiration.

"A World Inside"

There is something about a wolf's unbreakable spirit that seems to inspire me. Dedicated to it's pack, to protect and to fight to the death if any other outside wolf were to intrude. Their ability to work as a team, to continue on despite the many obsticals it faces every day just to survive. This painting, yes, of another timber wolf, is titled "A world inside". It was inspired by the thought "you are not in this world; the world is in you"...what world is percieved through a wolf's eyes?

Lily - Taking longer than anticipated

Yes, I'm still working on Lily's portrait. It's taking a little longer than anticipated. We had two deaths in the family within three weeks of each other and it completely shocked us. It was a huge eye opener. You may be gone tomorrow, do what you love NOW. Keep focused on what is important to you and get rid of the rest. Always tell your family and friends how much you love them and how important they are to you.

Best Mothers Day Ever

Well I hope that everyone had an awesome Mother's Day and that you were thoroughly spoiled. My Mother's Day was spent with my loving husband and two wonderful and creative children at home. There were hand made cards and gifts (my favourite kind) plus breakfast, lunch AND dinner made for me. Wow! I didn't have to lift a finger! What will I do with nothing to do?? To the studio! Yes, an afternoon of creating, boy did that ever feel good. I didn't put any pressure on myself to do any particular project, I just followed my creative desire. Some of the time was spent on making a few cards and the rest spent painting Lily's pet portrait. My daughter joined me later in the afternoon and we both sat quietly working away on our projects. She made a lovely hand bound journal made of recycled cardboard, paper & twine. As the evening approached, the delicious smell of dinner wafted down into the studio, it was getting close to dinner time. I cleaned up the studio, wandered into the kitchen were my husband was passionately making dinner, opened the fridge and poured myself a crisp cold glass of white wine. It was the best Mother's Day ever. Then again, I say that every year!

The "Victorian" Fork...

While visiting a quaint little second hand shop over the weekend I found this amazing fork. Yes, that's right..fork. What can be so special about a fork you ask?? Well take a look at the pictures above. As I was sifting through a box of what I thought of as normal, boring forks, a long slender piece of silver with intricate details of vines and roses caught my attention. What an amazing piece of artwork for $4.00! Who knows, perhaps it was used for fishing out a pickled onion or an olive out of a deep narrow jar.

"Lily" - A Pet Portrait in Progress

Still working away on Lily. Here is an updated photo taken today. I plan to have her finished by the end of June...the latest!! It's always a challenge to get artwork done when you have a busy family with a jam packed schedule. Before each day begins, I remind myself of how important my artwork is to me. I make it a point to visit my studio each day, even if it's for only an hour.
